Today I have spend some time creating and deploying WIFI profiles to Android devices and would like to share my experiences. To get started with Android and WiFi profiles I used this TechNet article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn705842.aspx is almost correct, but there a few bugs in the XML example (as I see it, authentication and encryption).
To get me all the way I combined the knowledge from the article with information from MSDN https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn705842.aspx and finally this super nice Android PSK Generator community tool – http://johnathonb.com/2015/05/intune-android-pre-shared-key-generator/
The Android XML configuration is really easy, just add the WiFI information into the Configurator and click Create file.
Example: Configure a custom Wi-Fi profile with a pre-shared key
Although Intune supports Wi-Fi profiles for Android devices, this feature does not currently support the inclusion of a pre-shared key in the configuration. In this example, you’ll learn how to create an Android custom policy that creates a Wi-Fi profile with a pre-shared key on the Android device.
To create a Wi-Fi profile with a pre-shared key
1.Ensure that your users are using the latest version of the Intune Company Portal app for Android.
2.Create an Android custom policy and add the following settings:
Setting name - Specify a name of your choice for the setting.
Setting description - Specify a description for the setting.
Data type - Select String (XML).
OMA-URI - Enter the following: ./Vendor/MSFT/WiFi/Profile//Settings
3.For Value, copy and paste the following XML code that is generated from link above.
